My personal life journey has been around navigating dark and light . In my early days I navigated the illegal adult industry. Fear and darkness were everywhere. But in that navigation of dark places I also found my own strength and power. It has been a great pleasure to watch the entire adult industry emerge from the illegal shadows to an industry that is decriminalized in at least 4 states. Yes, there is a long way to go but the glimmers of light are there.
My journey through darkness into light has been replicated over and over again in both my career and my personal life. Through my maiden period , through motherhood and finally in my post menopausal life I have been called to throw away social conditioning and find the light in the darkness. The myth of Inanna illustrates the collective experience we have as woman in finding our strength in the dark. As woman we are being called to throw away the constraints of social conditioning and reclaim our power.
All of us hold our own personal darkness, parts of us that we keep hidden. Due to the way we were raised and the culture we live in many woman have had to push down their sexuality and their personal power and keep them in the shadows. Often reclaiming these parts means letting go of fear of judgement, conditioning and perhaps even beliefs we have about ourselves that no longer serve us.
